Coloring game

Color the Longer One

Ages 3-4 Math

It's the Long Contest! Six pairs of the same picture - a train, a caterpillar, a couch, a pencil, a dachshund and a school bus - start on one line, and the child colors the longer one of each pair in any color. The first three pairs are easy to tell apart; the last three are close calls. No reading for the child: a grown-up reads the one line aloud. For grown-ups, the longer one is: train bottom, caterpillar top, couch bottom, pencil top, dachshund top, bus bottom. Ask: Can you find something in the room that's longer than your hand?
