What Comes Next?
Ages 3-4 Logic & PuzzlesShapes & Patterns
Keep the pattern going! Four rows of colorful pictures that make a pattern, and at the end of each row two plain pictures to choose from. The child colors the one that comes next. The rows get a little harder each time: apple, star, apple, star; fish, fish, house; cat, boat, boat; car, tree, duck. No reading for the child: a grown-up reads the one line aloud. How to play: say each row out loud together and point to every picture, then ask, "What comes next?" Your child can color the chosen picture to match the pattern's colors (a red apple, a blue house): if it matches the pictures in the row, it's right. For grown-ups, the answers are: row 1 the apple (right), row 2 the house (left), row 3 the boat (right), row 4 the duck (left). Ask: Can you make your own pattern with toys or crayons - red, blue, red, blue?
Free to print. Six games make a playset — the tray builds the PDF with a parent page on top. One sentence about your kid and the words on this page are theirs.
